What is a CIL
CIL stands for Center for Independent Living. Each CIL in Illinois designs its services for the specific counties it serves. Each CIL is mandated to provide at least five core services:
Information and Referral
Requests for information range from quick and easy to detailed and involved.
Independent Living
Skills Training
ACIL helps consumers acquire the skills they need to meet their goals for living independently in the community.
Individual &
Systems Advocacy
A CIL informs consumers of their rights as citizens with disabilities and works to make certain their rights are respected. ACIL can become involved in legislative issues related to disabilities to help insure those rights are maintained.
Our Consumers
JACIL is a cross-disability organization. We serve. individuals who have any type of disability: mental, sensory, physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities. We believe that people with disabilities have the right to make choices (just like anyone else) in their own home, work- place and community.
